Instructions for Using This Site

1. Register a New Game

a. You will be asked first to select the Talon Soft or HPS game you will be using.

b. Once you submit your selection, you will be taken to the main game entry page.

i. Enter the players involved in the game. The first player is ALWAYS the player playing the CSA side in your game. The second player is ALWAYS the player playing the USA side in your game.

ii. Select the scenario being played from the drop down list. If it is not on the list, choose the selection in the list, "Other". Then enter a description of the scenario you are playing in the "Comments" section. Be sure and include how many turns long the scenario is so that commanders that present awards based on turns in a scenario will have the information they need. If the scenario is part of a campaign, then choose "Battle or Maneuver" and enter the scenario description as above. Also include if it is the first, second, etc battle of the campaign. The idea is to give enough information for developing reports from the information you post. Some players are using this to indicate the exact scenario they played in a Campaign game. (You can see this by opening, in the game folder, the .cpf, .bto, or.btc file of the game you are playing using a text editor like Notepad in MS Windows) Others wait until the game is over before looking and enter it into the "Comments 2" section of the End Game Report. It makes the game more enjoyable to them not knowing exactly what they are facing ahead of time.

iii. Next, select the type of battle:

Battle: A game between two members whose club side is different. (One is a CSA member and the other is a USA member. It does not matter which side you are playing in the game.)

Maneuver: A game between two members whose club side is the same. (Both CSA or Both USA. Again, it makes no difference as to what side you play in the game)

VMI Training: The initial training game for new CSA Cadets. It is only used once per new member.

West Point Training: The initial training game for new USA Cadets. It is only used once per new member.

Multiplayer Battle: A game with three or more players and at least one is from a different side of the club. (See "Battle" above)

Multiplayer Maneuver: A game with three or more players and all players are from the same side of the club. (See "Maneuver" above)

iv. If the game is a multiplayer game, enter the other players in the places provided. Be sure and indicate the side each player was playing in the game so the appropriate points will be awarded when the game is ended.

v. Reread the form and, once you are sure all of the information is correct, then submit the form.

CAUTION: Be careful using your mouse wheel to scroll. It can change your selection in the drop down lists! Reread the entire form before submitting. If you make a mistake that you do not find until after the game is submitted, notify your CoA or the Site Administrator.

2. End a Current Game

a. This page will have a drop down list that displays all of your ongoing games. Select the game you wish to end.

b. Enter the number of turns that were actually played when the game was ended.

c. Select the winning side, or in the case of a draw, leave it blank.

d. Select the appropriate victory level.

e. Enter any comments you wish. Some players are using this to indicate the exact scenario they played in a Campaign game. (You can see this by opening, in the game folder, the .cpf, .bto, or.btc file of the game you are playing using a text editor like Notepad in MS Windows) They wait until the game is over before looking. It makes the game more enjoyable not knowing exactly what you are facing ahead of time.

f. Reread what you have entered and then submit the end game. The game is immediately posted and the points are awarded to the players involved. Your OBD should reflect the new total and the game will no longer be listed in your uncompleted games.

3. Reports page

1a. My Games - This report will show all of your games, ended as well as ongoing battles.

1b. My OBD - This report will show the users Officer Battle Dossier (OBD - all of the points received for games and awards). The listing shows games first, followed by awards. Your report may show a "Start Adjustment" figure on June 29th, 2005, right before this site came on line on July 1st, 2005. This was calculated to balance this sites point data with what was on file with the club at the time this site became active. In many cases there were no records to verify the points so the cabinet opted to accept the current numbers the CoA's had at that time as the "official" records. This site took what records were available and "adjusted" that balance to meet the figure shown in the CoA records.

1c. My Unfinished Games - This report will show all of your unfinished games.
